Expand your academic horizons with the 2025 International Anatomy Immersion Award, designed to deepen your understanding of human anatomy while gaining global exposure in one of the world’s most prestigious medical learning environments.

What is the program?

Each year in November, the Australian Institute of CPD Standards' International Anatomy Immersion Award offers a 5th year undergraduate or 2nd Year postgraduate student in an Australian medical degree program a fully funded position to attend a three week preclinical anatomy course hosted by the Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. The program allows you to:
  • Expand your global networks with internationally renowned educators
  • Enhance your learning experience through the University’s pioneering teaching methods
  • Strengthen your foundation in clinical anatomy and medical education
  • Develop your skills in leadership, academic curiosity and lifelong learning
  • Return as an Ambassador of Possibility where you will get to share your insights at the 2026 AIcpdS Annual Conference
  • Feature in post-program activities including webinars, blogs, mentoring sessions and more

A once-in-a-career opportunity to attend a three-week preclinical anatomy course at the Human Anatomy Centre, Department of Physiology, Development of Neuroscience, University of Cambridge, UK.

Visit the Royal College of Surgeons in the heart of London where you can tour the Hunterian Museum and trace the history of surgery from ancient times to the present. Then immerse yourself in the Anatomy and Pathology Museum (APM) with over 1,500 specimens on display.

Am i eligible?

  • The International Anatomy Immersion Award is open to medical students insured with Miga who:

  • ✔️ Are currently enrolled as a 5th year undergraduate or 2nd Year postgraduate student in an Australian medical degree program
  • ✔️ Demonstrate academic excellence and interest in anatomy or academic medicine
  • ✔️ Embody a high standard of professional conduct
  • ✔️ Are available for full program ~15th Nov– 7th December 2025 (TBC)
  • ✔️ Holds a valid passport and meets United Kingdom's travel requirements
  • ✔️ Is an Australian citizen or permanent resident

how to apply

  • You can apply directly or be nominated by your university or affiliated organisation. To apply, you must:
  • Prepare a 500-word motivation statement that addresses your interest in the opportunity, how it aligns with your career goals and what you hope to contribute and gain.
  • Provide supporting documentation including:
  • Your CV
  • Academic transcript
  • Leadership and engagement statement (500 words)
  • Referee statement (1-page)
  • Complete the application form and upload all required documentation
  • All applications must be submitted by Monday, 1 September 2025.

What information should i include in my leadership and engagement statement?
  • Showcase how you contribute to your academic, clinical, or broader community through leadership, service, or advocacy. You might include:

  • Examples of teamwork, problem-solving, or influencing positive change

where will i fly from?

You will fly from your nearest Australian capital city to London, United Kingdom - return!
what will the accommodation be like?
Accommodation in London will be a single hotel room central to the city or equivalent. Cambridge accommodation is at the student quarters provided by the College or equivalent, depending on availability.
Will i travel by myself?
Although you may fly by yourself, a representative from the Australian Institute of CPD Standards will escort you through London and on to Cambridge.
Do i need a passport?
Yes! You will need to hold valid passport and meet the United Kingdom's travel requirements.

do i get a meal allowance?

Yes! Throughout the program you will receive a generous meal allowance for breakfast, lunch and dinner by way of a preloaded VISA Debit to accommodate student socialising!

Must i attend the entire program?

Yes! You will need to attend the entire three-week program, but if you choose to stay longer for further travel, there is flexibility at your own cost.

Will i be covered for travel insurance?

Yes, you will be provided with travel insurance and issued a copy of your insurance prior to departure.
