Australian Institute of CPD Standards (AIcpdS) is the peak independent national body for CPD accreditation. A not-for-profit organisation set up For Industry, By Industry. Our mission is to safeguard the Australian public by standardising high quality Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accreditation processes. We serve registered professions reliant on ongoing education by offering robust, standardised, yet simplified accreditation processes. Through accessible, high-quality, and rigorous standards, we enhance professional competence, community trust, and outcomes for all Australians. With alignment to the Perpetua Discendi Declaration, we continue to voice the needs of CPD standardisation nationwide. By embedding innovation, industry demands , and best practices, we enable professionals to translate learning into real-world application. A Declaration for excellence in continuing Professional Development (CPD)

  • The Perpetua Discendi Declaration (PDD)is an independent statement of commitment to advancing high-quality, evidence-informed Continuing Professional Development (CPD) across Australia's healthcare professions.

  • It recognises that lifelong learning is essential to maintaining professional competence, strengthening the healthcare workforce, building public confidence, and improving the safety and quality of care.

  • The Declaration brings together organisations that share a commitment to educational excellence, integrity, transparency, and continuous improvement in CPD.

  • PDD Principles
  • Signatories support CPD that is:
  • Evidence-informed, based on credible evidence and responsive to current healthcare needs.
  • Focused on professional competence, supporting the ongoing development of knowledge, skills, judgement and professional practice.
  • Educationally rigorous, designed using recognised adult learning principles with clear outcomes and meaningful evaluation.
  • Independent and ethical, underpinned by transparent governance and appropriate management of conflicts of interest.
  • Committed to continuous improvement, using reflection, evaluation and quality assurance to enhance educational effectiveness.
  • Aligned with Australian expectations, reflecting contemporary professional standards, regulatory requirements and quality assurance principles.
A Shared CommitmentBy becoming a signatory, organisations publicly commit to promoting CPD that:
  • supports safe, ethical and evidence-informed healthcare;
  • reflects recognised principles of educational quality and professional integrity;
  • promotes transparency, accountability and good governance;
  • encourages measurable improvements in professional capability and healthcare outcomes; and
  • contributes to continuous quality improvement across healthcare education.
Where appropriate, organisations may use recognised evidence-informed frameworks, including the AIcpdS Accreditation Standards and Evidence Guide, to support the planning, delivery, evaluation and governance of their educational activities.
What Becoming a Signatory MeansSigning the Perpetua Discendi Declaration is a voluntary public commitment to the principles of high-quality CPD.
It demonstrates an organisation's support for educational excellence and continuous improvement. It does not constitute accreditation, certification, regulatory approval or endorsement. Any accreditation remains subject to the requirements of the relevant accreditation framework.
Join the DeclarationHealthcare organisations, professional associations, education providers, employers, CPD Homes, academic institutions and industry organisations are invited to become signatories.
